The Wrong Side of the Bed
Monday, October 4, 2010 at 5:28AM
Ever have those days, where you know you just got up on the wrong side of the bed. That was me this morning. I planned on waking up early and going downstairs to the gym. My alarm went off, I kept sleeping. When I woke up, I got ready quickly, filled my water bottle, put my shoes on, and grabbed my water. Little did I know I'd forgotten to screw the lid on my bottle... water all over the floor.
After I'd cleaned that up, I went to work out. Thankfully that was fine; no random shutting off of the machines, as has happened once before this last month. I went to collect the Sunday newspaper afterwards, only to find that it was not there. I think someone might've taken it before me. Damn them! The Sunday paper is the best... it has all the free coupons in. I called the subscription line, but it was too late for redelivery.
Most of the rest of the day just consisted of me being grumpy, and me beginning to revise for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Its like high school maths all over again! Gotta get to work on that if I want to get into graduate school.
One interesting sight from today. As Nicole and I were walking home from the Badger Herald meeting, we witnessed a mass march walking up State Street. Only this wasn't any ordinary movement; it was a movement supporting the legalisation of marijuana. November 2nd will see residents voting on whether to allow Wisconsin to issue licenses for medical dope, as is the case in other states such as California. This "weed walk" must have compromised about 1,000 people, young and old, a lot of whom were smoking hemp. The air smelt pretty bad along the road. There was even a poor dog staggering along with his owner smoking. The dog could barely walk straight, and was certainly stoned. I wonder what the police had to say about the march? Too many to arrest, that's for sure. Big protest, will it have an impact on the electorate? Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, California downgrades the possession of less than an ounce of marijuana to the same status as a speeding ticket; just an infraction, punishable with a fine, not a misdemeanor.
On an entirely different note, I have become addicted to strawberry milk! It's so cheap, cheaper even than regular low fat milk, and it only has 1%fat! mmmm so tasty, low fat milk with a hint of strawberry flavouring. I have a glass now, with a homemade cookie Nicole made for me. Not such a bad day after all :)
